PENAL CODE (AMENDMENT) ACT 2016

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 156(5) OF THE PENAL CODE TO INCREASE THE AGE OF FEMALES CRIMINALISED FOR ACTS OF INCEST FROM 15 YEARS TO THE AGE OF 18 YEARS

Commencement [3rd June, 2016]

1. Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Penal Code (Amendment) Act.

2. Amendment to section 156(5)

Section 156(5) of the Penal Code is amended in its entirety and replaced with the following words;

• (5) Any female person of or above the age of 18 years who with consent permits her grandfather, father, brother or son to have sexual intercourse with her (knowing him to be her grandfather, father, brother or son, as the case may be) shall be guilty of a felony and shall be liable to imprisonment for 7 years.
