An Act

entitled

Regulatory Statutory Authorities (Appointment to Certain Offices) (Amendment) Act 2024,

Being an Act to amend the Regulatory Statutory Authorities (Appointment to Certain Offices) Act 2004 and for related purposes,

MADE by the National Parliament to come into operation in accordance with a notice in the National Gazette by the Head of State, acting with, and in accordance with, the advice of the Minister.

1. PROCEDURE FOLLOWING MERIT-BASED APPOINTMENT PROCESS (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 6).

Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting immediately after Subsection (3), the following new subsection:

"(4) Where a person is re-appointed as a chief executive officer of a Regulatory Statutory Authority after his term of appointment has expired, his re­appointment remains valid as long as the re-appointment process was commenced prior to the expiry date of his last term of appointment. ".

2. TRANSITIONAL AND SAVINGS (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 15).

Section 15 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting immediately after Subsection (2), the following new subsection:

"(3) A chief executive officer of a Regulatory Statutory Authority to which Section 6(4) applies, who was re-appointed prior to or as of 12 September 2022, shall, on the coming into operation of this Act, be deemed to have been re-appointed in accordance with this Act.".
