AN ACT TO AMEND THE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS ORDINANCE (CAP. 81)
Commencement:
2002
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2002.
Amendment of Schedule
2. The Schedule to the Public Holidays Ordinance (Cap. 81) is amended by repealing the whole of that Schedule and substituting a new Schedule as follows:-
“SCHEDULE
(Section 2)
| Name of Holiday New Year International Women’s Day Good Friday Easter Monday National Health Day Gospel Day National Day – Independence Anniversary National Day – (in honour of Unimwane) National Day (in honour of Unaine) Youth Day Human Rights and Peace Day Christmas Day Boxing Day | Date 1st January 8th March } as from time to time } determined by world } Christians 19 April 11th July 12th July 15th July 16th July 5th August 9th December 25th December 26th December |

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS (AMENDMENT) ACT 2001
EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
The Act seeks to incorporate and set out neatly in the Schedule to the Public Holidays Ordinance (Cap. 81) all approved public holidays in Kiribati. They are set out in the new Schedule accordingly.
