AN ACT TO AMEND THE MAGISTRATES’ COURTS ORDINANCE (CAP. 52)
Commencement: 1990
MADE by the Maneaba ni Maungatabu and assented to by the Beretitenti.
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Magistrates’ Courts (Amendment) Act, 1990.
Amendment to section 78
2. Section 78 is hereby amended by deleting the phrase "shall be final and shall not be appealable to any Court" and substituting the phrase "shall be appealable to the Kiribati Court of Appeal".
Amendment to section 79
3. Section 79 is hereby amended by deleting the phrase "other than a land cause or matter in such cases" between the words "appeal" and "and".

MAGISTRATES’ COURTS (AMENDMENT) ACT 1990
EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
The purpose of the Act is to make it possible for land causes or matters to go up to the Court of Appeal. Currently it is not legally possible to do so.
