HIS HONOUR THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE HIGH COURT OF THE COOK ISLANDS IN EXECUTIVE COUNCIL


PURSUANT to Article 7(1) of the Constitution and section 3(2) of the Constitutional and Other Polls Act 1993 His Honour the Chief Justice acting by and with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following regulations which prescribe the form and procedure for the conduct of a poll required by Article 37(7)(b)(ii) and (iii) of the Constitution:

REGULATIONS


1. Title - These regulations may be cited as the Constitutional and Other Polls Regulations 2004.


2. Forms - The form to be used at a poll required by Article 37(7)(b)(ii) and (iii) of the Constitution for the purposes of ascertaining whether a two-thirds majority of persons entitled to vote as electors at the general elections to be held in September 2004, support the Constitution Amendment (No. 27) Bill which proposes that the term of Parliament provided for in Article 37(5) of the Constitution be reduced from 5 years to four years, shall be as set out in the Schedule to these regulations.

DIRECTIONS


1. This is a poll of persons who are entitled to vote as electors at a general election of Members of Parliament to determine whether voters agree, or do not agree, to the Constitution Amendment (No. 27) Bill which proposes that the term of Parliament should be reduced from 5 years to 4 years. The Constitution Amendment (No. 27) Bill is attached to this polling paper.


2. Look carefully at the poll choices, options, or preferences shown on this paper.


3. Then select the one you prefer.


4. Then make a cross or tick or mark clearly in the box directly opposite the choice, option or preference you selected.


5. Then fold the paper and place it in the container provided.


6. If you spoil this paper in any way, return it to the Presiding Officer and obtain another.


7. If you are voting by postal vote, you must do it straightaway and make sure that you post your vote to the Chief Electoral Officer as soon as you have completed it.
