An Act to provide that certain enactments of the Parliament of New Zealand shall extend to the Cook Islands as part of the law of the Cook Islands

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1. Short Title - This Act may be cited as the New Zealand Laws Act 1970.
2. New Zealand Acts extended to the Cook Islands - (1) The Acts of the Parliament of New Zealand as specified in the first Schedule to this Act are hereby declared to extend to the Cook Islands as part of the law of the Cook Islands.
(2) In the application of the Administration Act 1969 to the Cook Islands -
(a) The provisions of that Act relating to the Public Trustee shall not be in force in the Cook Islands;
(b) All rules of practice and procedure which by the said Act may be made in accordance with the Judicature Act 1908 may be made in the same manner as other rules of the practice and procedure of the High Court.
(3) In the application of the Wills Amendment Act 1969 to the Cook Islands, the references in section 2 to the Public Trustee shall be construed as references to the Registrar of the High Court.
(4) Section 623 of the Cook Islands Act 1915 shall cease to have effect as part of the law of the Cook Islands.
3. New Zealand regulations and orders extended to the Cook Islands - The regulations and orders specified in the Second Schedule to this Act are hereby declared to extend to the Cook Islands as part of the law of the Cook Islands.
4. Radio Regulations 1970 extended to Cook Islands with amendments - The New Zealand Radio Regulations 1970 (Statutory Regulations Serial No. 1970/140) are hereby declared to extend to the Cook Islands as part of the law of the Cook Islands with the following amendments:-
(a) All references to the Minister shall be construed as references to the Minister appointed under the provisions of the Constitution as the Minister responsible for Communications;
(b) All references to the Director-General and Radio Inspector shall be construed as references to the Superintendent of Radio at Rarotonga;
(c) Omit paragraphs (a) and (b) of subcaluse (1) of regulation 69;
(d) Omit Part VI;
(e) Omit Part VII;
(f) Omit Part VIII;
(g) Omit Part XII;
(h) Omit Part XIII;
(i) Omit Part XV;
(j) Omit Part XVI;
(k) Omit clauses 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15 from the First Schedule;
(l) Omit paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) from Clause 1 of the Second Schedule.
