‘ The present circumstances are different and distinguishable There was service on the Government Attorney in respect of a committee whose secretary is an employee of the Ministry of Justice But any defect as far as that was concerned would in my view be cured by the entering of opposition by the committee   The fundamental purpose of service is after all to bring the matter to the attention of a party, including having the benefit of an explanation as to the meaning and nature of the process If a party then proceeds to enter an appearance to defend or notice to oppose through legal representatives, the fundamental purpose has been met, particularly where the legal representative in question had been served with the process (and was thus in possession of the papers and would appreciate their import) &rsquo     1
